Storage

Can I freeze the meat?

Yes, all our meats are suitable for freezing. We recommend freezing them as soon as possible to maintain quality.

Will my meat arrive fresh or frozen?

All of our meat is delivered fresh, ready for you to start cooking straight away or freeze for later. We ensure it arrives in perfect condition by delivering in a refrigerated van, maintaining optimal temperature throughout transit.

What is the shelf life of your products?

The shelf life of each product is clearly labelled on the packaging. Generally, our fresh meats will last 4-7 days in the fridge when stored properly.

However, for seasonal items like our Christmas meat selections, the shelf life may be shorter due to the specific timing of production and delivery. We recommend checking the packaging for the best before date and following storage instructions to ensure optimal freshness.

How will my meat be packaged?

You may rest assured we have taken great care to ensure your goods arrive in perfect condition. Most of your meat will be vacuum packed in a food-safe polythene pouch before being carefully placed in one of our fully recyclable cardboard Just William Butchers boxes or bags. For local deliveries as soon as your order is completed it goes in the fridge and is only removed when the driver places it in one of our refrigerated Just William Butchers vans and delivers it direct to your door.  

All collections are kept in our walk-in fridge in our bespoke butchery unit at the farm, ready to be collected in person.

Christmas

What is your cut off date for Christmas orders?

The cut-off date for Christmas orders will be around the first week of December. We recommend placing your order early to ensure availability and timely delivery. Keep an eye on our updates for the exact date!

How do I place my Christmas order?

To place your Christmas order, simply visit our website, browse our seasonal products, and add your selections to your cart. At checkout, you can choose a preferred delivery date to ensure your order arrives in time for the festive period. If you need any assistance or have special requests, feel free to contact our customer service team, and we’ll be happy to help.

What are your Christmas delivery dates & fees?

Our Christmas delivery dates are Saturday 21st December, Sunday 22nd December, and Monday 23rd December. We offer free delivery with a minimum spend of £40.00, so you can receive your festive meats without any extra cost. Be sure to place your order early to secure your preferred delivery date!

Can we collect our Christmas order?

Yes, you can collect your Christmas order. Our collection date is Tuesday, 24th December, between 9:30am and 11:30am. Make sure to place your order early to secure your collection!

Our collection location is: Just William Butchers, High Trees Farm, Beggarmans Lane, SG11 1HB.

Can I split my order to include pre-order Christmas items?

All items in your order will be delivered or available for collection on the selected date. If you need certain items sooner, please place two separate orders, each with its own delivery or collection date.

How do I add to my Christmas order?

Yes, we can add items to your order based on stock availability. However, as we do not store card details for payment, please Email Us to request additions to your Christmas order.

We will then send you an invoice, and you can complete the payment via bank transfer. Once payment is received, the meat products will be added to your order.

Can I cancel my Christmas Order?

We will not be able to cancel or reduce any orders due for delivery after Thursday 5th December. This will ensure we can find a home for all the livestock and Poultry. 

Order cancellations must be submitted in writing via email directly to info@justwilliambutcher.com

No other form of cancellation to be accepted. The cancellation is only deemed as confined on the receipt of a respond email from Just William.

Are all your products available for Christmas?

Unfortunately, not all of our meat products at Just William Butchers are available for Christmas. The items that are available can be found in our dedicated Christmas section. You can browse and shop all of our Christmas offerings HERE.

If you accidentally order meat products that are not available for Christmas, we will contact you via email or phone to arrange a refund for those items or your entire order.

Ordering

How do I place an order?

You can place an order directly through our website by selecting your desired products, adding them to your cart, and completing checkout.

Is there a minimum order value?

At Just William Butchers, there is no minimum order value for deliveries, and you can enjoy free delivery to your doorstep on all orders over £40. For customers opting to collect their orders from us, the minimum order value is £10, providing flexibility for smaller purchases.

Can I cancel my order?

We regret that due to the very short timescale involved in processing fresh meat orders, you cannot cancel or amend your order once it has been placed unless specifically agreed by ourselves. If the order has been dispatched, then unfortunately we will not be able to cancel or amend your order.

Can I add to my order once it has been placed?

Yes, we can add items to your order based on stock availability. However, as we do not store card details for payment, please Email Us to request additions to your order. 

We will then send you an invoice, and you can complete the payment via bank transfer. Once payment is received, the meat products will be added to your order.

Something I would like to purchase is 'sold out'. Will it become available again?

Our butchers are always working hard to replenish stocks. There are products that are incredibly popular and do sell out quickly, however we do our best to ensure the products that you want are available regularly. The best thing to do is just periodically check back on the website.

Farming

Can I visit the farm?

Unfortunately, visits to High Trees Farm are not possible. The farm is home to my parents, Andrew and Vanessa Gibson, and is a working farm. As such, we are unable to offer unguided tours or visits at this time. However, you are always welcome to collect your order directly from the farm.

Do you rear all the meat at your farm?

High Trees Farm is 200 acres of beautiful permanent pasture with deep hedgerows. At High Trees Farm we rear a herd of native Hereford Cattle, North Country Mule cross lambs.

In addition to the livestock reared at High Trees Farm, we also work with other incredible farmers. For more information about where our meat is sourced, check out our provenance page.

Is all your beef, lamb, and mutton grass-fed and grass-finished?

Yes, all of our beef, lamb, and mutton are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. Our cattle, lambs, and mutton thrive solely on forage and their mother's milk throughout their entire lives. We believe in feeding them nothing else. Native breed beef, like our Herefords, flourish on grass as nature intended, ensuring the highest quality and flavour.

Delivery

Where do you deliver?

We offer delivery to select postcodes within Hertfordshire and Essex. To determine if your area qualifies for local delivery, please refer to the postcode districts listed below.

  • SG1, SG2, SG3, SG4, SG7, SG8, SG9, SG10, SG11, SG12, SG13, SG14, AL6, CM17, CM18, CM19, CM20, CM21, CM22, CM23, CM24.

Please note that we only deliver to these specific postcodes.

What are your delivery options and how much does it cost?

Local Delivery Service:
We’re delighted to offer delivery to select postcodes in Hertfordshire and Essex! To check if we deliver to your area, please see the list of postcode districts below:

Spend £40 or more to enjoy free delivery. Orders under £40 will incur a £5 delivery charge.

Order & Collect: Take advantage of our convenient Order & Collect service at our farm. Collection times are from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, with a minimum order of £10.

Do you offer nationwide delivery?

No, we don’t offer nationwide delivery at the moment, but possibly one day in the future!

Do you deliver my order yourself?

All our local deliveries are transported in our own branded Just William Butchers refrigerated vans. The drivers are all experienced delivery drivers who work to very high standards. They work to strict regulations to make sure your meat delivery / order arrives with you safely and carefully. There is a space for special delivery instructions during the checkout process.

What time will you be delivering my order?

Deliveries are made between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on your selected delivery day. On the morning of your delivery, you'll receive an email with a confirmed time slot, plus the ability to track your driver in real-time for added convenience.

Can I collect my order?

Yes, you can collect your order. Collections are between 9:30am and 11:30am on your chosen date.

Our collection location is: Just William Butchers, High Trees Farm, Beggarmans Lane, SG11 1HB.

Payment

When do you take payment for my order?

Payment is taken at the time of placing your order through our secure payment gateway.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept, all major credit and debit cards including American Express. 

You can also use Applepay, Shoppay at the checkout. Once payment has been made, we do not retain your card details.

How do I use my gift voucher?

To use your gift voucher, simply enter the voucher code at checkout in the Gift Card or Discount Code box. The value of the voucher will be applied to your total order amount automatically.

Do you retain card details?

We do not retain your card details ourselves, however if your card details are stored on your browser they will 'autofill' at the checkout. 

If you are checking out using Applepay or Shoppay your card details will be retained by that service.

Where can I find cooking instructions?

All our cooking instructions can be found on each of our products pages on our website. Simply search the product and scan down the page to find the cooking instructions.

Do all your products have nutritional information?

As a small farm we are unable to provide nutritional information for Just William Butchers meat products.
